New Official Plan for the City of Brockville

The existing Official Plan for the City of Brockville was adopted by Council in 1987 and approved by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing in 1988.  It has been the subject of over 80 amendments of both major and minor significance because issues and opportunities that surround planning continuously evolve.  As such, planning documents must evolve in-parallel with the issues in order to guide development successfully and efficiently.  In circumstances where planning documents are not current, amendments are often the result.  While in many ways the Official Plan is still insightful, it must be reviewed and updated to meet current standards and to reflect the City's vision, needs, and desires for the future.

 

In 2008 Council for the Corporation of the City of Brockville made the decision to move forward with plans to create a new Official Plan.  Consultant services were sought to lead this process. A Request for Proposals for Consulting Services was created, and in October 2008, the firm of MMM Group Limited, in association with Watson & Associates Economists Ltd., WCM Consulting Inc. and Future Cities International Inc., were awarded the contract for the preparation of a new Official Plan for the City of Brockville. 

 

In December 2008, City Council adopted a Public Engagement Strategy which promotes consultation and identifies several opportunities for public engagement throughout the process.

Many of the documents can be downloaded for your convenience.
